Drug Abuse and Addiction in Virginia

Drug abuse and addiction is universally found.  There is no way to put an end to this on-going drug war. Virginia is no exception to this rule, with the availability and abuse on the rise with drugs such as cocaine, meth and marijuana.

Cocaine is widely available and abused mainly in inner cities such as Richmond and Roanoke, drugs are being brought in through the Mexican drug traffickers based out of North Carolina.

Heroin is widely available in urban areas and has gained popularity among young white American citizens from the upper middle class suburbs.   

Meth is among one of the favorites in such towns as Harrisonburg and Staunton, used mainly by young college aged citizens it is commonly found being abused in nightclubs and raves.  

Club Drugs such as Ecstasy is most popular among the young college aged crowd and is most prevalent at dance clubs and raves.

Marijuana is readily available throughout the state. It is imported into Virginia from a number of diverse trafficking groups. Marijuana that is being distributed throughout the state is most commonly found being brought in from Mexico.
