Drug Abuse and Addiction in UtahDrug abuse and addiction is found everywhere in the world. There is no way to put an end to this on-going drug war. In Utah, meth production and abuse continues to be the prominent drug of choice along with club drugs being on the rise while other drugs such as cocaine, heroin and marijuana still are common drugs of abuse. Cocaine – is readily available primarily in the larger cities but still remains a huge problem for law enforcement. Heroin is widely available in both Black tar and Mexican brown heroin throughout the state. Meth is by far the largest threat to the citizens of Utah. Law enforcement reports methamphetamine labs have dropped throughout the years, but the drug is still readily available. Club Drugs are very common among young Americans, Ecstasy is most popular and a large threat to law enforcement, while GHB, Ketamine and Oxycontin are also becoming prominent throughout the state. Marijuana is cultivated in remote areas of the state with a majority of the drug coming in from Mexican traffickers. |
